Rules / Combat and Resisting Arrest
« Last post by Leon Rodgsky on July 14, 2015, 12:04:19 am »
Recently, I've noticed that there has been a lot of dispute regarding this subject. In order to keep outcomes consistent, I have written this post to help anyone who feels they've been treated unfairly in RP, or - similarly - wants to avoid doing something wrong.

Resisting Arrest
When you are being arrested by the CPs, there are various stages of the arrest, as well as certain rules for each stage. Note: If you are outnumbered by CPs, you must play to lose (P2L).
  • The "Wall" Order: When you are approached by Civil Protection, you will most likely be told to get against the wall. At this point, you could either comply, or resist. If you resist violently, then you must roll (/roll command in chat) to see who wins.
  • Against the Wall: Once you are against the wall, the officers will attempt to tie you. You can attempt to resist being tied, but you must either P2L, or roll from 15 (/roll 15). Note: The roll amount can change if the officer is outnumbered or generally weak, as they may chose to P2L.
  • After being tied: The officer may focus on somebody else. No matter how many officers there are, you can always /me trying to escape, so long as there are no officers standing immediately behind/beside you. You can roll from 60 (decreases by five for each officer) to run. The officer has one chance to /me stopping you from running (Note, this takes place simitaniously as you are starting to run, not when it has evolved into a chase). If you win the /me, you may start running. At this point, any observing officer(s) may take out his/her gun, and fire (or, similarly, give chase).

Fighting Equals
If you end up in a fight with someone of equal ability (A fellow officer, citizen, ect.), then there are three possible scenarios.
  • Fighting Unarmed/Both Armed Melee: Both parties will have to roll from 100 in the fight, unless there is an unusual circumstance (see below)
  • Fighting with Only One Party Armed: If only one person has a melee weapon, then the unarmed fighter will have to roll from 70 to properly deflect the weapon. If they attempt to disarm, they must roll from 65. However, some P2L would not hurt.
  • Fighting with a Firearm: If one party has a firearm, the armed party must /me aiming. If the unarmed party tries to do anything in that scenario, they must roll from 50 (45 to disarm.) Once the other person /me's firing, the unarmed party must P2L (this does not apply to long-distance scenarios, see Gunfights below).

Unusual Circumstances
  • Attack from behind: If Hypothetical Person 1 attacks Hypothetical 2 from behind, H2 must automatically lose the first move. Afterwards, however, it can become a fair fight.
  • Outnumbered: For every extra person in a party, a fifty roll deduction is added for the outnumbered party. If you were to fight two people at once, you would roll from 50; if you fought three people at once, you roll from 0, and therefor, play to lose.
  • Resisting arrest from an EPU or higher: If an EPU or higher rank (including OTA) attempts to subdue you through hand to hand combat, you must automatically play to lose.
  • Injured: If one party is injured, with less than 90 health, then for every health point lost, the roll is decreased by one. For example: If someone had 90 health, they would still roll from 100. If they had 89 health, they'd roll from 89. However, if one party is crippled, then a corresponding disability must be applied (broken leg: can't run, broken arm: can't fight with that arm, broken skull/concussion: play to lose).

Long Distance Combat
Different distances has different impacts on combat, each one having an impact on your accuracy.
  • Close Range: (See above guide)
  • Medium Range: Half Shoot-to-Miss (HS2M). In such a scenario, only roughly half of your shots should hit. Most shots should hit your targets cover. However, if your target is out of cover, shoot-to-kill (S2K).
  • Long Range: Shoot-to-Miss (S2M). Do not hit your targets except for maybe a stray bullet or so. If they are behind cover, you can not hit them at all.
  • Snipers: If you are using a sniper rifle, long range fights are HS2M, while medium ranged fights are S2K. However, if you are aiming for a still long range target who is passive (Such as an idle officer), shoot to kill. However, you must /me this, and also have an admin /event it if possible. This also gives away your position if you are in public.

[Adam Nickel's Backstory.] [DO NOT USE ANY OF THIS IN-CHARACTER]

Adam was born in New Hampshire, in the year 1990, making him currently 25 years
old. As a kid, he was very interested in guns, and he wanted to become a gun
shop employee. And he did. He was 16 when he started. At the age 18, he was
elected for CEO of the company. He did really good at his job. When he was 19,
the Seven Hour War started. He was in hiding, and the combine never found him.
Then one day, he beat up a rebel, and hit him once, and caused him to run. Then
he hit him for the second blow, this time knocking him out. He was made a
conscript several days after. He is currently the Rank
Private.

[Q&A]

Q: Can I meet him in character?
A: Probably not, he's very secretive of his identity.

General Discussion/Introductions / MOVED: Those Ration Packs!

This topic has been moved to guides. It appears to be less general discussion about the server, and more a guide on how rations work.

Left, I told you I was in the process of writing a guide. This is unacceptable. I thought you were my friend. As of now, you are only an admin, no longer superadmin. Also. I've permabanned you. And I am currently setting up a DDoS against you. Also, I'm going to throw you down a manhole. Thanks for reading. P.S. I trapped your friends in my fruit cellar, and I am currently making my ransom video. However, I can't find out how to work Sony Vegas Pro, so it should be a while. That is all.

Edit: Cool guide. I'm currently making an in-depth one, but this shall do in the meantime.
